Daytime tour of the ASTROLab

 


Attend the Cosmic Rhythms, a high-definition show which will bring you to the outermost bounds of the Universe, in the multimedia hall. The public is thrilled by its high quality and originality. Visit the exhibition room From a Starry Sky to the Infinite Universe.Relive the evolution of our conception of Space from the previous time of our Ancestors up to this inconceivable immensity discovered recently. Finally, visit the Cosmolab-Velan: Birth and History of the Cosmos. This exhibition is a unique presentation of cosmology. Find out about the theories which intend to describe the origin of the Universe, like the Big Bang.

 

Daytime tour of the observatories

 


The Mont- Megantic Observatory, located at the top of the mountain since 1978, is accessible every day of the summer as part of our guided tours.
 
You will be accompanied by an enthusiastic guide who will help you discover the best performing telescope (1.6 metres) in Canada and explain its operation as well as the work and research accomplished by the astronomers.

Your visit to the summit includes a reading the scenery activity at no extra charge. (Wheather permited).

 

Astronomy evening at the ASTROLab

 


At the base of the mountain, at the ASTROLab, the evening begins in our high-definition multimedia room with the animated presentation Tonight in the Cosmos. If the stars prevail, the evening will continue outside and in the Velan Observatory (36 cm) with naked eye and telescope observation.

If the clouds prevail, you will be a part of our interactive presentation where you will discover the most beautiful space landscapes on a giant screen and you will get to choose the destinations and ask any question about the Universe. No matter what the weather has in store, we will have you see stars!

 

Astronomy evening at the Popular Observatory

 


On the mountain top, the evening begins with an unforgettable view of the sunset at an altitude of 1100 m, behind the largest observatory in the North East of America (if wheather permits). The evening will then continue in the Popular Observatory with a commentated presentation on the challenges of observing the sky with telescopes. If the stars prevail, you may look through the 61 cm telescope and enjoy our outstanding outdoor observation platform with reclining benches — a breathtaking scene.

If the clouds prevail, our multimedia observatory will provide an unforgettable interactive virtual sky observation. Prepare your questions!

 

Hiking - 50 km of trails

 


75 km of trails in altitude. Experience the transition between a colorful mixed forest and a coniferous forest while you hike to reach a summit at over 1 000 meters in altitude. Once up the mountain, contemplate the Appalachian Mountains!
