Perseids 2010 |
| Perseid Evenings August 9th to 14th
The Perseids Evenings are nights of observations of the famous meteor showers with special presentations, observations by telescope and musical ambiance. You are invited to bring your lawn chairs and blankets to comfortably spend the night with us.
Learn why we make wishes when we see a shooting star ?, why there are meteor showers ?, why we call the August meteor showers Perseids ? and if there are other meteor showers ?
Join us and make a wish! Programm With a reservation for an evening at the summit, you have access to : (reservation mandatory)
• Multimedia presentation about PERSEIDS (40 minutes).
• Outdoor observation with naked eye and with telescopes (weather permitting).
• Guided tour or observation at Velan Observatory, a 14 inch telescope at the base.
• Night hike weather permitting (à 9:10 and 11:10 pm).
• The Universe in 3D (with 3D glasses, on giant screen).
• Interactive Cosmos inside the Cosmolab (projections and astronomical discussion).
• Bus ride up the Popular Observatory : observation with the 24 inch telescope and naked eye. Ride back down when you are ready according to availability on the bus. If the sky is cloudy : you will ride up to the Popular Observatory for a guided visit and a multimedia presentation .(1 hour) then return to the base by bus.

For an evening at the base, you have access to (no reservations required) :
• Outdoor observation with naked eye and with telescopes (weather permitting).
• Guided tour or observation at Velan Observatory, a 14 inch telescope at the base.
• Night hike weather permitting (à 9:10 and 11:10 PM).
• The Universe in 3D (with 3D glasses, on giant screen).
• Interactive Cosmos inside the Cosmolab (projections and astronomical discussion). Schedule Shuttle Ride departures to the summit:
at 9 pm: Perseid Presentation at 8 pm, 3D at 11 pm or 1 am
at 10 pm: Presentation at 8 pm, 3D at 9 pm
at 11pm: Presentation at 10 pm, 3D at 9 pm
at midnight: Presentation at 10 pm, 3D and 11 pm
at 1 am: Presentation at midnight, 3D at 11 pm
at 2 am: Presentation at midnight, 3D at 1 am
Example : if your bus is scheduled for departure to the summit at 11 pm, the 3D presentation will be at 9 pm and the Perseid presentation is at 10 pm at the ASTROLab.
2010 Rates Access to the summit :
ADULTS $ 26.14 +tx
CHILDREN (6 to 17 ) $ 12.85 +tx
Access to the base :
ADULTS 12,85 $ +tx
CHILDREN (6 to 17) 6,42 $ +tx
Access fee to the Park not included, $ 3.50/adult, tx. incl.
Note :
*You must reserve ahead for the activities at the summit.
*It's cold at the summit. VERY COLD !
