We are the children of the stars. A poetic saying? For sure but it's also scientific truth!  One of the most outstanding discoveries of our time is that of the history of the Universe. We thought it was unchanging,  but it actually transforms itself. Our existence here and now is linked to the remotest past of the Universe. Against all expectation, the roots of life run deep into the heart of cosmic evolution.  The elements of which you are made did not exist in the primeval Universe, 14 billion years ago. The matter required for life was then completely dissolved in the unimaginable heat that dominated everything.  It is only later, at the heart of these massive stars, that the elements making you up have been created. These stars, when they violently exploded and marked the end of their existence, thrust into space the seeds of new elements, thereby progressively enriching the Galaxy with the necessary ingredients for the formation of planets and the birth of life.  The very possibility of life is linked to the past of the Universe.
